SUMMARY

The seminar aims to support teachers as they move into the role of teacher educator, a teacher of teaching working with their colleagues. This process involves building on and converting knowledge and skills in teaching into knowledge and skills as teachers of teaching. Designed to blend face-to-face and on-line work experience, participants will identify, practice, and document the skills and knowledge they have, and need to develop, to be effective teachers of teaching. They will develop specific teacher-learning activities, which they will trial, and will document their learning in a Professional Portfolio.

Learning to talk Talking to learn @ Istituto geometri Tallini
Nov 27 @ 15:00 – 17:00

Learning to talk. Talking to learn.

Speaker: Sarah M Howell

The way our students express themselves can inform, influence, inspire and motivate others and express their empathy, understanding and creativity…and more. Through speaking and listening they develop their ideas and critical thinking skills. Research shows that students in classes where oracy skills are taught achieve higher standards across the curriculum and better results in exams.

In this session, we shall look at practical ideas for developing oracy in the EFL class in order to offer all students the opportunity of communicating effectively using spoken language.

Sarah M Howell, author, teacher trainer and presenter has been involved in teacher development in Italy for over 25 years. She has co-authored more than 30 course books, grammar books, readers and ebooks for more than 7 million students worldwide, collaborating with a variety of publishers.

Sarah is a Member of the National Executive Committee of TESOL Italy and a founder member of the TESOL Italy Marche Group. Her current areas of research include development of oracy in mainstream education, visible thinking and CLIL. She is a strong advocate for inclusive education.

“From our Cultural History to the Future @ L.S.S. Teresa Gullace Talotta
Dic 11 @ 14:30 – 18:30

From our cultural history to the future

2018 will be the first European Year of Cultural Heritage and we have decided to dedicate our Creative Writing Competition to this event. The main aims are to promote cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and social cohesion, to emphasize the role of cultural heritage, to highlight our common European identity. The competition, which is  aimed at  students of primary, middle and secondary schools including students with special educational needs and learning difficulties, encourages creativity and self-expression,  helps develop autonomy as well as cross-curricular skills and presentation skills. Also it gives the opportunity to develop CLIL connections. In this workshop we will provide the teachers with ideas, resources and examples to develop in the classroom. The main idea is to help students become aware of European history and values and to draw attention to the opportunities offered by our cultural heritage and to the challenges it has to face for the future like the digital shift, environmental and physical pressure on heritage sites.

The seminar will be followed by a Christmas Tea Party
